Economically Sound, Secure, and
Humane Immigration Policies

JFK comments on economic contributions of immigrants
we are a nation of immigrants
we are a nation of immibrants

  • We are a nation of immigrants.  We need immigration to offset declining birthrates.

  • We should NOT have open borders. Asylum laws and policies should be more restrictive and legal immigration should be expanded.

  • Regardless of status, the vast majority of immigrants are an economic positive for our country. They provide much needed labor, they pay taxes, and they drive demand.

  • Undocumented immigrants contribute $330 billion/yr to our economy and pay $98 billion/yr in taxes.

  • All immigrants combined contribute $1.9 trillion/yr to our economy and pay $770 billion/yr in taxes

  • Mass deportations and restrictions on legal immigration pathways will have a profound negative effect on U.S. economic growth, even without the enormous $75 billion of added deportation enforcement costs.
  • Money should be spent on local law enforcement to fight real crime rather than being wasted on building detention centers and deporting hard working people who contribute to our communities.

  • To help pay for ICE agents and deportation, the Trump Administration has eliminated over 4000 other federal law enforcement agents in FBI, DEA, and ATF.

  • The Trump Administration's defunding of non-immigration law enforcement and community programs make our communities less safe.

  • Immigration enforcement should be humane, and should treat people with dignity, care, and safety.

  • Federal immigration agents should not be masked, should be properly trained officers, should only make arrests with warrants, and should not detain American citizens.

  • In short, protect our borders, deport real criminals, support local communities and law enforcement, respect the Constitution and devise new laws and policies to fully integrate hard working, law abiding, and contributing immigrants fully into the American dream, just as was done for so many of our forebearers.
